Lilly woke up. David could tell the nightmares were getting worse. He stood as she sat up. She looked over at him, her eyes were full of tears, yet none fell. She carefully got out of bed, making him extremely nervous. A tear started to stream down her face, he didn’t know what to do.
Lilly collapsed into his arms, all of the tears starting to fall. David’s mind was drawing a complete blank, he wasn’t good at this stuff. But this time seemed to be different, he didn’t know why. His fingers intwined in her hair, he just held her tight. That was all she needed right now.
Her hands were clinging on to the fabric of his shirt, “Don’t let him hurt me.” she pleaded through her tears, “Don’t let him hurt me.”
David’s expression was hard. Oh, the things he would do to his brother. She didn’t deserve any of this, she was too sweet, too kind for this sort of treatment.
“I promise.” he whispered, not quite sure if he would be able to, but that’s what she needed to hear right now, “Everything is going to be okay.”
“You’re a terrible liar.” she murmured.
“I don’t lie.”

So yesterday, I'm looking through my pictures and I'm like, “I don't think I've ever put Lilly in teal... I should do a quote picture!”
Don't ask how teal got associated with quote picture...
